Natural sapphire is an incredibly durable gemstone, but a fine gold-plated finish requires thoughtful care to ensure its longevity and brilliance:

• The "Last On, First Off" Rule: Always apply your hairsprays, perfumes, body lotions, cosmetics, and self-tanners before putting on your earrings. Chemical residues from daily beauty products can dull the natural gemstones and slowly erode or discolor the gold plating.

• Always remove your earrings before showering, swimming, washing your hair, or handling household cleaning solutions. Hard water minerals, soaps, and chlorine can build up behind the micro-pave setting and cause the gold layer to wear away prematurely.

• While sapphire is exceptionally hard (9 on the Mohs scale), the underlying silver framework and posts can warp under physical pressure. Remove your earrings before sleeping, working out, playing contact sports, or visiting the hair salon to prevent catching or bending the components.

• Never use aggressive commercial jewelry liquid dips, harsh chemical abrasive cleaners, or automated steam machines.

• To clean safely, gently wipe down the framework and stones using a completely dry, ultra-soft microfiber jewelry cloth to lift dust and skin oils. Avoid rough rubbing, which can prematurely thin the gold plating.
