Blue Topaz is a strong, highly durable gemstone with a hardness ranking of 8 on the Mohs scale, but because these earrings combine it with delicate Mother of Pearl and a bright gold-plated silver finish, they require mindful care to maintain their lasting beauty:

• The "Last On, First Off" Rule: Always apply your perfumes, hairsprays, cosmetics, and body lotions before putting on your earrings. The chemicals in daily grooming products can dull the natural luster of Mother of Pearl and slowly wear away the protective gold plating.

• Always remove your earrings before swimming in chlorinated pools, relaxing in hot tubs, or handling household cleaning solutions to protect the plated surface and natural stones.

• Remove the earrings before intense physical workouts, sports, or sleeping to avoid bending the posts or scratching the settings.

• Avoid automated cleaning tanks: Never clean these earrings in an automated ultrasonic or steam machine. Mother of Pearl is organic and highly sensitive to heat and vibrations, which can dull its surfaces permanently.

• To clean safely: Simply wipe the earrings down gently after wear with a clean, dry, ultra-soft microfiber cloth. For a slightly deeper clean, use a damp cloth with a tiny drop of mild, neutral soap on the metal portions, being careful around the Mother of Pearl inlay. Dry immediately with a soft towel.

• Store your earrings flat in their own soft pouch or separate compartment to prevent them from scratching against harder gemstones.
