Care & Wear Info

Unlike standard white opals, Boulder Opals are naturally cut with their hard ironstone backing intact, making them more durable for daily wear. However, opal is still a delicate mineral that requires mindful care:

• The "Last On, First Off" Rule: Always apply your cosmetics, hairsprays, perfumes, body lotions, and hand sanitizers before putting on your ring. Daily grooming chemicals can seep into the stone's micro-porous structure and permanently dull its fiery brilliance.

• Always remove the ring before heavy physical activity, gym sessions, gardening, swimming, or washing dishes. A sharp blow can damage the natural opal surface, and household chemicals can degrade the silver finish.

• Moisture Caution: Never submerge your opal ring in water for prolonged periods or wear it in hot tubs, saunas, or steam baths. Extreme moisture levels and sudden temperature changes can cause thermal shock cracks.

• Never clean this artisan ring using automated ultrasonic cleaner tanks, boiling water, steam machines, or harsh commercial liquid jewelry dips.

• To clean safely, wipe down the silver shank and stone surface with a completely dry, ultra-soft microfiber jewelry cloth to remove dust and skin oils. For cleaning inside the textured silver crevices, use a damp soft-bristled toothbrush with a drop of mild soap, brush gently, rinse quickly with room-temperature water, and dry immediately with a soft cloth.

• Store the ring flat inside its own soft fabric pouch or a separate compartment of your jewelry box, away from harder gemstones like diamonds or sapphires, to avoid surface abrasions.
